Hornets Look to Extend Win, Eyeing Win Against Spurs
Who: Charlotte Hornets (34-39) vs. San Antonio Spurs (43-31)
When: Tuesday - March 26, 2019 7:00 p.m.
Where: Spectrum Center - Charlotte, NC
The Charlotte Hornets (34-39) head into Tuesday night's game versus the San Antonio Spurs (43-31) riding a three-game win streak. The latest win came after a game-saving buzzer beater launched by Jeremy Lamb near half-court. The score gave Charlotte the 115-114 victory over the Toronto Raptors and kept the team in reasonable playoff contention.
The Hornets' new lineup changes appear to be working. Last Saturday, the Hornets defense, along with Kemba Walker's 18 fourth quarter points, engineered a 30-5 run in the second half that allowed Charlotte to climb back into the lead and ultimately grab the 124-117 win over the Boston Celtics.
The Hornets will need that same effort to deal with the dynamic duo of LaMarcus Aldridge who recently went 20-31 for 48 points to lift the Spurs to a 115-96 win over those same Boston Celtics as well as DeMar DeRozen who is averaging over 21 points per game. The Spurs have a win-streak of their own -- winning eight of their last ten games.
The other question looming over the Charlotte locker room is who will be in the lineup. Several key role players have out due to a host of injuries including Michael Kidd-Gilchrist who was just cleared from concussion protocol. So look for the youth movement to be in full effect tonight against the Spurs.
Charlotte currently trails the eighth place Miami Heat as well as the ninth place Orlando Magic by 2 games. But recent momentum has given the Hornets new hope for their remaining games.
