Carolina Panthers fall to Steelers 24-16

The Steelers struck first in the opening quarter on 1st and goal from the seven yard line. Najee Harris’ TD run made it 7-0 but Sam Darnold and Carolina would answer back on their next possession.

Darnold moving the chains in the passing game with that hurry up offense along with DJ Moore helping to convert first downs. Terrace Marshall Jr off the 41 yard pass completion help set up DJ Moore’s 5 yard TD catch that tied the game up at 7 apiece. Moore capping an 11 play 85 yard scoring drive that took 6:36 seconds.

Pittsburgh’s offense kept moving the ball in the second quarter and they retook the lead on Jaylen Warren’s 2 yard TD run with 5:52 left in the half.

In the 3rd quarter Mitch Trubisky having a solid game so far took it in from 1 yard out on a 21 play 91 yard scoring drive that spanned 11 minutes 43 seconds. Pittsburgh’s time of possession almost 30 minutes at that point in the game.

Darnold and that Carolina offense starting to click when he hit Chuba Hubbard on a big 45 yard pass play and that allowed Eddy Pineiro to capitalize with a 29 yard field goal making it an 11 point game with 6:25 left.

In the 3rd quarter Mitch Trubisky having a solid game so far replacing Kenny Pickett. He took it in from 1 yard out capping a 21 play 91 yard scoring drive that took 11:43 seconds…Pittsburgh dominating time of possession with about 30 minutes at that point in the game

Darnold trying to keep the Panthers competitive down the stretch when he connected with Chuba Hubbard on a big 45 yard pass play that helped Eddy Pineiro’s 29 yard field goal that made it an 11 point game.

Later with about 6 minutes left Pineiro accurate on his 32 yard field goal that had the Panthers trailing by 8.

The final 24-16 Pittsburgh as the Panthers fall to 5-9 on the season. Next up in NFL week 16, the Detroit Lions at Bank of America Stadium on Christmas Eve.
