Carolina Panthers restore faith, bounce Buccaneers 21-3
A very important divisional matchup kicked off the NFL's Week 7 with the Carolina Panthers hosting Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Bank of America Stadium. Panthers' quarterback PJ Walker remained the starter this week with Baker Mayfield remaining out due to injury.
Both teams were scoreless until right after the two minute warning when PJ Walker hit D’Onta Foreman on a 23-yard pass then DJ Moore from 20 yards out to cap a 6 play 80-yard scoring drive that made it 7-0 in favor of the Panthers at halftime.
Later, with 3:44 in the third quarter, Panthers running back D’Onta Foreman exploded for a huge 60-yard run that set up the next play when Chuba Hubbard took it in from 17 yards out capping a 3 play 77 yard scoring drive. Carolina with a 14-0 shutout heading into the 4th quarter.
Tampa Bay finally got on the board on their next possession going 67 yards on 14 plays and a Ryan Succop field goal to make it an eleven goal point game.
That Carolina offense answered right back when Walker found Tommy Tremble finishing a 7 play 75-yard drive that took four minutes and five seconds. The Bucs trailed 21-3 and were not able to close the gap for the remainder of the game.
The Panthers move to 2-5 on the season as the Buccaneers fall to 3-4.
