Charlotte Hornets evaluate former Tar Heel Luke Maye during recent pre-draft workout
Saturday the Charlotte Hornets continued their pre-draft workouts at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, NC. The day's workouts included a range of players not seen during previous workouts.
· Keldon Johnson, Guard, Kentucky
· Luke Maye, Forward, UNC
· Josh Perkins, Guard, Gonzaga
· Kevin Porter Jr., Guard, USC
· Josh Sharma, Center, Stanford
The most familiar face this week was former Tar Heel forward Luke Maye.
Maye has been on NBA scout's radar since the Tar Heels won the 2017 NCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship. His low-post scoring ability combined with his versatile long-range shooting allows him to help spread defenders and is attractive to teams in need of a role player. Maye is also an efficient rebounder.
"The ACC I think is the best league in college and I had double digit rebounds in back to back years," Maye said during his post workout interview.
The Huntersville, NC native averaged a double-double during his final two seasons at the University of North Carolina. His senior year ended with Maye averaging 14.9 PTS and 10.5 REB.
The 2018-19 ACC rebounding leader's play on the boards could probably be his most valuable asset to a Hornet's team that ranked 18th in the NBA in second chance points.
