Louisville Cardinals silence Cameron Crazies in 79-73 win over Duke Blue Devils

When Mike Krzyzewski and the No. 3 ranked Duke Blue Devils took the court this past Saturday, they knew they were facing a dangerous No. 11 Louisville team with the potential to win on the road in almost any venue. What they didn't foresee was Louisville's ability to play through the normally daunting crowd effect of Cameron Indoor Stadium as they fell to the Cardinals 79-73.

The Cardinals may have had a difficult time gathering themselves inside Duke's home arena - a place known for its loud and raucous crowds with the ability to distract the most focused players in college basketball, if not for the surprise attack in the first half.

Freshman David Johnson scored 17 of his career-high 19 points for Louisville in the first half which allowed the Cardinals to hold on to their 10-point lead to start the second half.

Duke fought back from as much as a 15-point deficit to tie the game late in the second half. But even Cassius Stanley's 24 point outing was not enough to help the Blue Devils edge out a win. And the loss could have been worse had ACC leading scorer Jordan Nwora, who averages 24 points per game, mustered more than six points on 3-for-12 shooting. "That was a brutal game," Krzyzewski said.

The win extended Louisville's winning-streak to 3-straight. As for the Blue Devils, the loss marked their second-straight loss. Just days earlier, the Blue Devils lost a 79-72 road battle to Clemson.

The Blue Devils host Miami on Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET.
