Matt Rhule not overreaching when it comes to containing Zach Wilson
There's been a lot of chatter about how Sam Darnold will hold up in game one of the season against his former team - a team that has received a tremendous overhaul on the defensive side of the ball. The Jets have also gotten what some are saying is an upgrade at the quarterback position. But there's just one big difference. Zach Wilson is a rookie. And with that comes a plethora of scenarios that allow inexperience to poke holes in the offensive plans of the jets no matter how skilled he is.
Many teams would likely implement as many unscouted defensive looks to derail a rookie quarterback because they are much more prone to take the bait. On Wednesday, Carolina Panthers head coach Matt Rhule addressed how the team plans to handle the situation. "It's really about the system," Rhule said. "So for us it's about really sound at what we do."
Teams have waiting to actually take the field for games that count and these two teams are no exception. The battle at the line of scrimmage will probably be the determining factor between these two hard-hitting teams.
